The Neurobiology of Trauma: A Foundation for Trauma-Informed Care (Tra)

Description
This 4-hour continuing education course equips mental health professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to implement Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) in clinical practice. Trauma affects individuals on emotional, psychological, and physiological levels, influencing their ability to function and heal. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the neurobiological impact of trauma, psychological effects, and behavioral patterns associated with trauma exposure.

Participants will learn the six core principles of TIC, strategies for integrating trauma-sensitive interventions, and approaches to creating safe and supportive therapeutic environments. A special emphasis is placed on cultural sensitivity, acknowledging how trauma intersects with race, gender identity, historical oppression, and socioeconomic status.

Learners will develop a trauma-informed lens to enhance client care. The course also addresses challenges in TIC implementation, ethical considerations, and strategies for preventing vicarious trauma and burnout among clinicians.
